About Me

Your friendly freelance content professional

Meet the person behind the words

Are you looking for a freelance content professional to help bring your brand to life through engaging online content and website copywriting? Then you’ve come to the right place – so let’s get to know each other a bit better!

As a freelance content writer and strategist based in Perth, WA and working with businesses big and small across Australia, I’m here to help you connect with your customers today.

There’s three main reasons why I started freelancing as a content marketing pro:

A writer's notebook and cup of coffee

I think like a marketer, but I write like a writer. That means that no matter the piece I’m writing, from that catchy bit of SEO-optimised web content to the most basic of product copywriting, people always come first. Converting readers to customers is no easy feat – but it gets a whole lot easier when they’re engaged with relevant, informative content tailored to their unique needs.

Communication and transparency are core values of every project I work on. I believe that proactive communication and transparency are integral to creating successful content for successful businesses. Whether it’s tailor-made content briefs or unlimited rewrites until you’re 100% satisfied with the work before we publish, I make sure that every step of the project lifecycle lives and breathes collaboration and co-creation.

I understand what goes in and what comes out of your business planning. I’ve worked on both sides of the marketing equation – from in-house communications teams to agency-side consulting, I’ve got the knowledge and skills to provide quality content that audiences want to read, and businesses want to show.

Lending my skillset and background to creating quality content today

Before I took my passion for people-focused marketing to the next level and started branching out on my own, I took every opportunity to upskill in all things along the customer lifecycle. My journey took me from publishing my honours thesis on customer-business value co-creation to diving head-first into the corporate world – both in-house and as a consultant.

Working with small and medium businesses, as well as a few of the industry heavyweights along the way, has given me a myriad of skills and knowledge that I include in my content marketing services wherever I can. Read about how they all come together in the content marketing equation:

Content Writing and Content Creation

I’ve loved writing ever since I was in primary school. During my years studying at the University of Western Australia, I was able to use these skills to write and later publish my marketing thesis on value co-creation in a prominent academic journal.

After uni, I continued my professional career at a boutique market research agency, before continuing in a communications role at a medium-sized national finance brand. Over the years, I honed my writing and content marketing skills in a number of areas, leading to my current freelance content role today:

  • Advanced business writing (through a professional writing course)
  • Blog writing (both personal blogging and article writing)
  • Newsletter design and implementation
  • Direct mail campaign creation
  • Fiction writing (primarily short stories)
Market Research Methodologies

Honing my skills both at university (check out my academic publication on value co-creation) and working at a boutique market research agency as a consultant, I’ve gained professional experience across several research areas including:

  • Quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  • In-depth interviewing and focus group facilitation
  • Advanced statistical analysis and interpretation
  • Survey instrument design and implementation
  • Evidence-based and insights-driven strategy
Internal Communications

A focus on people and engagement isn’t only important when talking to customers and clients. Working with a mid-to-large Australian financial services organisation in their newly-formed Internal Communications Specialist role was a challenge (especially during the formative years of COVID). By putting the employees first, my team and I designed and implemented a brand-new internal comms strategy with four main pillars: Leadership & Purpose, Transparency & Trust, Diversity & Inclusion, and People’s Voice.

This strategy was backed up by my activities in:

  • Ghostwriting for executive leadership
  • Employee engagement and internal newsletter writing
  • Workshop facilitation and insights development
  • Employee survey design and implementation
  • Speech and script writing
  • Professional PowerPoint presentation design and templating
Workplace People and Culture

Working in a shared-services communications role gave me an appreciation for just how much of a difference high levels of employee engagement make in the workplace – especially over the last few years! My experiences in the following areas have allowed me to truly make a tangible difference in the workplaces I’ve worked in, including:

  • Workshop facilitation
  • Customer-centric organisational strategy for a well-known aged-care provider
  • Communications officer in the social committee for 400-strong company with personnel across Australia and New Zealand
SEO Measurement/Analytics

If there’s any one thing my professional journey prior to freelancing taught me, it’s that there’s no point setting goals if you have no way to measure them. Content marketing is no exception – that’s why I’ve taken every opportunity I can to upskill in this area, including:

  • Undertaking in-depth keyword research and analysis
  • Marketing campaign tracking and measurement
  • Backlinking and linkbuilding strategy
  • Completing the Hubspot SEO certification
SME Marketing Strategy

I’ve worked with businesses big and small over the years, each with their own individual needs and expectations that need to be understood before implementing any kind of strategy. That goes for my freelance content marketing too, which is why I’ll always appreciate the skills I’ve gained over the years in the following areas:

  • Marketing strategy creation and implementation
  • Specialised consulting and project management services
  • Stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Workshop facilitation
Change Management

You don’t have to be a change management specialist to know that nobody likes change – but it definitely cemented the fact when I did! Working at a national professional services organisation as an internal communications and change specialist, I gained skills in the following:

  • Leading change management initiatives with a Prosci ADKAR change management approach
  • Change communications creation and implementation
  • Technical training and development implementation for new initatives
B2B Project & Stakeholder Management

When I say “people-focused”, I don’t just mean the customers. Working directly with B2B clients and firms before I started this business has given me the skills to manage projects and stakeholders that makes it smooth sailing for all those involved, including:

  • Leading voice of the customer project for a well-known national electric and gas provider
  • Managing third-party fieldwork providers during research projects
  • Leading internal workshops and presentations for several large consulting clients
